Lighting artwork "Lumens", The Netherlands

LED lighting applications

A monumental light installation

Lumens is an artwork designed by Dutch visual artist and designer Henk Stallinga. The artwork consists of numerous subtly curved light mobiles. The mobiles are positioned throughout the space in such manner that one can enter the installation by gently pushing the lights, causing the entire firmament of light weighted mobiles to calmly move or wave.

Lumens captivates the full spectrum of daylight

The light mobiles in this installation captivate the full spectrum of daylight, in all possible hues and intensities. With this daylight spectrum, Stallinga programmed a 'daylight film' that moves throughout this firmament of mobiles. At the same time the light mobiles themselves move on the streams of air. Our mood is directly influenced by the colour of daylight. Once inside the installation, one actually experiences endless variations of daylight in the surrounding firmament.
