July 13, 2010: eldoLED introduces UL Class 2-compatible LINEARdrive DC 100 |
Eindhoven, the Netherlands - Today, eldoLED introduces a new member of its ballast-style, constant voltage LED driver range, the LINEARdrive DC 100.
LINEARdrive DC 100, targeted at lighting applications that use a large number of low-power LEDs and meet UL Class 2 requirements, is a powerful LED driver/controller and UL Recognized Component for the North American lighting market.
The DMX and 0-10V compatible LINEARdrive DC 100 can be integrated in a network or used as a standalone device. It is easy to configure over its intuitive, 3-button user interface with display. The 15-bit control resolution gives extremely smooth dimming and fine colour mixing. Measuring 153mm x 50mm x 23mm (6.02" x 1.97"x 0.91"), LINEARdrive DC 100 is small enough to fit neatly in most of your designs!
6A of power output at 12V
Driven at 12V, the LINEARdrive can handle a maximum load for the connected LED strips of up to 6A in total. For RGB LED strips, this results in a maximum load of 2A per channel; and for an RGB + white LED strip combined, in a maximum load of 1.5A per channel.
4A of power output at 24V
Driven at 24V, the LINEARdrive can handle a maximum load for the connected LED strips of up to 4A in total. Consequently, the maximum load per channel for RGB LED strips is 1.3A, and 1A per channel for an RGB + white LED strip combined.
Setup is a breeze!
The LINEARdrive features the most intuitive user interface on the market for complete driver configuration. The easy-to-navigate menu allows you to:
set the number of channels
set DMX and 0-10V settings for networked mode
set show, color and dim values for standalone operation
activate a configuration lock, preventing accidental changes to the settings
perform a visual test run of connected LED groups
ShowMaster
LINEARdrive's ShowMaster functionality allows you to upload show sequences for use in standalone mode. You can create and manage your own show sequences with the eldoLED TOOLbox and freely available PC software!

Integrated mains driver products
SOLOdrive AC: a single control channel, integrated AC mains LED driver/controller targeted at DALI networked and standalone
high-power, general white LED applications.
DUALdrive AC: a dual control channel, integrated AC mains LED driver/controller, allowing you to set colour temperature and
brightness in tunable white applications, or to separately balance ambient and task lighting in two control channel,
white lighting luminaires. DALI and DALI Colour ready for networked applications.
POWERdrive AC: an integrated AC mains, constant current driver/controller targeted at high-power, full colour
architectural, entertainment and decorative lighting that require static or dynamic RGBW/A light output.

Next generation DimWheel Colour
DimWheel Colour is a powerful one-button DMX controller that lets you set dim level, colour and show
for LED drivers and DMX compatible luminaires. DimWheel Colour is easy to install with a standard
mounting plate and allows a quick setup of mode and features through front mounted DIP switches.
DimWheel Colour offers no less than four operating modes:
- 1-channel mode for general white LED lighting installations, that lets you dim the light and turn it on or off.
- 2-channel mode for applications requiring colour temperature control, e.g. mixing warm and cool white light.
In this mode, you can set the colour temperature, dim the light and turn it on or off.
- 3- and 4-channel mode for static and dynamic full colour applications. These modes offer colour or show
control plus dimming and on/off control. Colour control allows you to create any hue and pick a saturation
level for this hue. Show control lets you run a show in DMX broadcast or chase mode and set the show
speed.

At LDI 2009, eldoLED will showcase its PowerPIX modules at the PIXLED booth (nr 1535), producer of lightweight, indoor-outdoor LED video displays.
Marcel DeKeyzer, President of XL Video, about the eldoLED PowerPIX modules: "...with their powerful light output and design flexibility, the eldoLED PowerPIX modules greatly complement XL Video's existing product portfolio."
The DMX compatible eldoLED PowerPIX 510 and 530 are strings of high-power RGBW LED pixels for dynamic color applications as well as general lighting purposes. eldoLED power scaling technology ensures that the RGBW pixel modules have a continuous high light output of 5W. When configured as a single or dual color pixel, the modules' light output even equals that of a 10W pixel. The IP65 rated PowerPIX modules have an aluminum housing and a clear, 170° beam angle PC lens. Their flexible cable and customizable interpixel distance gives light designers limitless design freedom.

ECOdrive, POWERdrive and LINEARdrive are 4-channel, DMX/DALI/0-10V compatible, constant current and constant voltage
LED driver/controllers that are easily configured over their intuitive, 3-button user interface with display. The LED current of the
constant current versions - ECOdrive and POWERdrive - can be set in 50mA steps from 200mA up to 1.4A, making them a perfect
fit for practically all LED brands. The enclosed LED drivers offer high power outputs (POWERdrive: up to 180W), robust thermal
management, smooth dimming, fine colour mixing and warm white/cool white mixing, and feature user-definable show sequences.

The eldoLED PowerPIX 530 is a custom development, with which eldoLED shows its commitment to be a driving force behind the
adoption of high-power LED technology in RGBW LED applications.
The eldoLED PowerPIX 530 is a string of 30 high-power 5W RGBW LED pixels for dynamic colour applications. The pixels are
individually controllable over DMX and have a flexible pitch, giving you the freedom to create the perfect interpixel distance for your
application.
What sets the eldoLED PowerPIX 530 apart from similar technologies/applications is the fact that it is a crossover offering general
lighting as well as dynamic colour capabilities. Also, its high power output per pixel makes it possible for e.g. media facades to be
as visible during the day as they are after nightfall. Thanks to its robust thermal design, the eldoLED PowerPIX 530 can be used
both free air and mounted onto a structure or heat sink.

UK wall mount set for DimWheel
At PLASA/09, eldoLED will introduce the UK wall mount set for the eldoLED DimWheel: a kit of parts which allows the DimWheel to be fitted to standard UK sized back boxes, providing a neat solution ready for use in a range of simple LED lighting control applications.
The DimWheels are standard-sized wall-mounted dimmers for LED drivers and DMX-compatible luminaires and offer one-button control for on/off, dimming and colour mixing. The DimWheels' 15-bit resolution guarantees smooth brightness control and extremely fine colour mixing, making the DimWheel the perfect digital LED dimmer. Intuitively pressing and turning the rotary knob on the dimmer lets you turn the light off or on, accurately set a dimming level or choose a hue and saturation level.
In addition to the excellent dimming and colour control, the DimWheel Colour will have a feature update in the fourth quarter of 2009: it will offer two show modes as well, broadcast and chase. Also, you will be able to set the speed of your show, connect an external switch to run multiple show sequences, and define and upload custom shows yourself with the eldoLED TOOLbox and freely available PC software.

12V AC LED driver/controller technology
With the introduction of its 12V AC LED driver/controller technology, which is primarily used in halogen lamp replacement (MR16), pool and landscape lighting, eldoLED shows its strength as a developer of LED drivers. Its 12V AC driver technology offers:
High efficiency: 85% typical at 12V AC,
92% typical at 12V DC
The higher the efficiency, the more light is produced with a certain amount of power, or the same amount of light can be produced using less power and at lower temperatures.
High power factor: 0.8
The higher an LED driver's power factor, the less power is "thrown away" in the form of apparent power. Less apparent power is more environmentally friendly, and plays an important role in rebate programs offered by US and UK power plants. Both power factor and efficiency levels are important Energy Star program requirements for solid-state lighting luminaires.

At LIGHTFAIR INTERNATIONAL 2009, eldoLED will launch the ECOdrive, POWERdrive and LINEARdrive Series: highly integrated and enclosed constant current and direct voltage controlled LED driver/controllers featuring an intuitive user interface and a wide input voltage range for networked (DMX/DALI/0-10V) or standalone indoor LED lighting applications:
- ECOdrive is a cost-effective 4-channel constant current DMX/0-10V LED driver/controller with a single LED current source. The single current source with 4 independently controlled channels gives ECOdrive an efficiency of up to 95%. With a 12V-32V DC supply voltage range, ECOdrive drives high-brightness LEDs requiring up to 1.4A and gives up to 45 watts of power. Available in 15, 30 and 45 watt version.
- POWERdrive is a multiple LED current source solution for DMX, DALI and 0-10V networks offering a power output of up to 180 watts. POWERdrive has a wide supply voltage range of 12V-32V DC. The LED current can be set for each channel individually, giving you enormous flexibility in driving your LEDs. Available in 45, 90 and 180 watt version.
- LINEARdrive is the ideal solution for direct voltage controlled LED applications. With a 12V-28V DC supply voltage range, LINEARdrive drives low-power LEDs in applications requiring up to 24A. This driver/controller is broadly applicable in standalone, 0-10V controlled or DMX/DALI networked LED systems. Available in 6A and 24A version.
Suitable for practically all LED types and configurations
The LED current of the ECOdrive and POWERdrive can be set to any value between 200mA and 1.4A in 50mA steps, making them a perfect match for practically all LED types and configurations.
Setup is a breeze!
Configure the ECOdrive, POWERdrive or LINEARdrive over their intuitive, 3-button user interface with display. The easy-to-navigate menu allows you to set parameters such as number of channels, DMX or DALI settings for networked mode and show/colour/dim values for standalone operation. You can also lock the driver's configuration and perform a test run of the connected LED groups.

ECOdrive, POWERdrive and LINEARdrive are DMX and LedSync-compatible, allowing 15-bit dimming and colour control and bidirectional communication for driver configuration and temperature read-out. All three ranges have a low EMI and robust thermal management, and are easy to connect.
ShowMaster, supported on all eldoLED driver/controllers, allows you to upload show sequences for use in standalone mode. You can create and manage your own show sequences with the TOOLbox and freely available PC software.

Having multiple LED current sources, the LM Series driver/controllers cater to the needs of SSL applications demanding a very high power output. For LED luminaires that do not need the 150W of power output of the successful LM-Dot Connector, eldoLED now introduces a cost and size effective version, the LM-Dot Pico. The LM-Dot Pico is the ideal choice for powering 350mA - 700mA, high-brightness LEDs and is available in a 3- and 4-channel version. Thanks to LedSync Out, the LM-Dot Pico allows daisy-chaining of SSL fixtures and can broadcast running show sequences to all connected LM Series devices.
High power output
The LM-Dot Pico allows a power output of up to 50W. Also, the LED current can be set for each group individually, providing you with all the flexibility you need to drive your LEDs.
High control resolution
The LM-Dot Pico supports a 15-bit control resolution per output channel for accurate dimming and fine colour mixing.
Low EMI
Slew-rate controlled dimming and shielded conductors keep the driver's EMI emissions at a very low level.
Robust thermal management
The LM Series driver/controllers have a robust thermal management. A built-in over temperature protection shuts down the driver/controller if it threatens to overheat. Furthermore, an NTC interface enables various ways of thermal protection, including LED throttling, a graceful decrease of light output until normal operating temperatures are reached.

The eldoLED DALI-to-DMX bridge, ideal for extending existing DALI lighting installations with a DMX universe
The eldoLED DALI-to-DMX bridge translates up to 32 DALI ballast values into DMX signals. The bridge is ideally suited to extend existing DALI lighting installations with a DMX universe, combining the best of both worlds in one hybrid network consisting of DALI and DMX luminaires.
The bridge's input side is completely DALI-compatible, meaning you can use all popular DALI control devices and commissioning tools to control and configure groups and scenes in DALI the way you are used to. The advantages of the DMX output side of the DALI-to-DMX bridge include the possibility of c hoosing the network resolution and using the same DMX address for multiple luminaires. The DALI-to-DMX bridge autoconfigures the number of DMX channels to the number of configured DALI ballasts.
Configuring network resolution on DMX side
DMX network resolution (number of bits used to send a set point over the network) can be set to either 8 or 16 bit via the bridge's DIP switch. In 8-bit mode, every DALI ballast value is translated into one 8-bit DMX channel. In 16-bit mode, two DMX channels are used per DALI ballast value. 16-bit mode enables a 15-bit resolution fade, resulting in a smooth transition between set points, invisible to the human eye.
Broadcast mode for daisy-chaining
The bridge broadcasts and replicates the DALI ballast settings over a maximum of 256 DMX channels with a 16ms update rate. The broadcast mode and set point replication gives you the advantage of daisy-chaining and auto-addressing luminaires, which is especially useful when networking over long cable distances.
Allocating a start address to multiple luminaires
Grouping luminaires with exactly the same behavior is easy in DMX. All it takes is setting those luminaires to the same DMX start address. In short, combining the advantages of DALI and DMX allows you to build a far larger yet easy-to-control network.
Form factor
The DALI-to-DMX bridge measures 68mm by 50mm or 2.68" by 1.97". DIN rail clip and backing plate are available for easy installation in standard electric boxes.

Small form factor: in-fixture installation
The drive, networking and control functionality integrated in the Pico belie its size - 25mm/0.98" in diameter. The Pico is a 15 Watt RGBW LED driver/controller for 350mA - 700mA high-power LED packages and arrays - the ideal choice for in-fixture spot applications. In-fixture installation leads to less cabling, increased luminaire design freedom and improved system cost for luminaire manufacturers.
High efficiency
State-of-the-art technology gives this LED driver/controller with only one current source for 4 LED groups a power efficiency of up to 95%.
High control resolution
The driver/controller's true 15-bit set point resolution gives it accurate dimming and extremely fine color mixing capabilities.
Low EMI
Shorter LED wires due to in-fixture installation, slew-rate controlled dimming, shielded conductors and the use of a single current source instead of 4 all contribute to keeping the driver/controller's EMI emission at a negligible level.

The 15-bit set point resolution of the DimWheel Colour allows accurate dimming and extremely fine colour mixing. Both dim level and colour selection is done over the DimWheels detentless rotary encoder, which features a ballistic effect for ultimate user-friendliness.
Operating the DimWheel is as intuitive as any standard household dimmer. Pressing the encoder switches on the light, turning the encoder adjusts the brightness. To enter the colour selection mode, the encoder must be pressed and held down shortlysubsequently turning the encoder selects the hue, and pressing and turning it once more sets the saturation level. Pressing the encoder one final time saves the selected colour.
 Both dimmable and non-dimmable devices can be connected to the DimWheel Colour. The DimWheels small footprint of 40mm by 48mm allows integration in any industry-standard mounting space used for traditional dimmers and the screw terminal blocks and threaded encoder guarantee easy connection and easy mounting, making the installation process of the DimWheel a breeze.

Eindhoven, The Netherlands, April 2, 2008 - At the Light+ Building tradeshow in Frankfurt, Germany, from April 6 through 11, eldoLED will show its complete product range of driver/controllers for high-brightness LED applications, with the newly released L-Dot Nano en DimWheel White as absolute highlights.
The eldoLED product ranges shown at Light + Building 2008 are:
V Series: driver/controllers for voltage-controlled LED lighting applications requiring up to 100mA of LED current
L Series: driver/controllers for constant current controlled LED lighting applications requiring up to 50 watts
of power output, while maintaining up to 95% efficiency
LM Series: driver/controllers for constant current controlled LED lighting applications requiring up to 150 watts of power output
Accessories: DimWheel dimmers that let you set brightness for LED lighting applications and interface cards that translate analog
control signals into DMX-compatible signals
L-Dot Nano
The newest member of the L Series product range, which will be launched at the Light+Building trade show, is the L-Dot Nano. With its 29.9 mm/1.18 inch diameter, the Nano is ideally suited for in-fixture installation, bringing LED luminaire manufacturers the advantage of increased design freedom, negligible EMI and improved system cost.
The L-Dot Nano is a 20 Watt RGBW LED driver for 350mA - 1000mA high-power LED packages and arrays. The driver/controller's true 15-bit set point resolution per output channel gives it accurate dimming and extremely fine colour mixing capabilities. The L-Dot Nano is available in a 1-, 2-, 3- and 4-channel version, which all come with an onboard thermal sensor interface allowing the connection of an NTC.

DimWheel White: extremely smooth dimming and accurate dimming levels
The DimWheel White offers one-button dimming and on/off control for LED drivers and DMX-compatible luminaires. The DimWheel White measures 40mm by 48mm.
The 15-bit set point resolution of the DimWheel allows very smooth dimming and very accurate dimming levels from 100% down to 0.5%.
Dimming is done over the DimWheel's detentless rotary encoder, which features a ballistic effect for ultimate user-friendliness.
Operating the DimWheel is as intuitive as any standard household dimmer. Pressing the encoder switches on the light, turning the encoder adjusts the brightness. When turning the light off by pressing the encoder, the dim level is saved to memory.
The DimWheel's small footprint of 40mm by 48mm allows integration in any industry-standard mounting space used for traditional dimmers and the screw terminal blocks and threaded encoder guarantee easy connection and easy mounting, making the installation process of the DimWheel a breeze.
